Pre-Professional OrganizationsI am a member of the boards of two pre-professional organizations at Georgetown, namely the Alexander Hamilton Society (AHS) and Pre-Law Society (PLS). AHS is a nationwide non-profit that prepares students for careers in national security and international politics. I have served as the Director of Policy of AHS since my sophomore year; my primary responsibilities include authoring and presenting extensively researched backgrounders for international affairs topics of interest and coordinating with speakers across the nation to organize discussion events that engage the general student body in complex and timely topics in national security and international relations. I was also selected to be one of five Summer Fellows in 2020.
I also became involved in PLS during my sophomore year, where I served as the Events Coordinator during the first semester and later transitioned to Treasurer. |
PublicationsSince arriving at Georgetown, I have served as a staff writer for two campus publications. During my freshman year, I covered news related to foreign policy and national security for the Georgetown Institute of Politics's online publication, On the Record. During my sophomore year, I began writing for The Caravel, an international affairs online and print newspaper that seeks to increase coverage of overlooked world events. I primarily wrote for the Africa section. You can view online versions of my work using the following links:

Cultural OrganizationsWhile at Georgetown, I served on the board of two Asian cultural organizations: Chinese Student Alliance (CSA) and Japan Network (J-NET). In CSA (top), I began as Freshman Representative, then served as the Treasurer during my sophomore year, and am now co-President. It has truly been an honor to work with a phenomenal group of students to encourage cross-cultural understanding, facilitate discussions of political and social issues that uniquely impact Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, and create a caring and friendly environment that welcomes all students. During my short time with CSA, we have seen incredible growth, both in terms of our numbers and our mission. After attending our first East Coast Asian American Student Union Conference (ECAASU) in March 2020, CSA fully embraced its role as a facilitator of political and social discourse. I am now coordinating with students across the country to plan the first Chinese American Student Union Conference to bring together CSA's from across the United States to similarly empower students to lead these discussions and take a more active role in activism in their communities.
I began my journey with J-NET (bottom) as a Program Assistant, before transitioning to Treasurer during my second semester. I later served as Vice President during the second semester of my sophomore year, and am now co-President. Much like CSA, it has been an incredible honor to work with my fellow board members to promote Japanese culture, encourage cross-cultural understanding, and create a caring and friendly environment that welcomes and nurtures all students. Both organizations feature a family system, wherein three to twelve underclassmen are paired with one or two upperclassmen. The upperclassmen, or "bigs," serve as mentors and friends, and they are responsible for organizing biweekly events for their "littles," offering academic and life advice, and generally acting as a supportive presence, especially for first-year or transfer students who are enduring a difficult transition to college life. Throughout my time on both boards, I have heavily dedicated myself to the success of these programs, both for my own families, and for the organizations as a whole. The family system is uniquely capable of offering community and support to students who may not have had the opportunity to develop a comprehensive support system at college yet, and offers an opportunity to make lifelong friends. |
