I am currently a junior at Georgetown University in Washington, DC, where I am double majoring in Economics and Computer Science, as well as minoring in Religion & Ethics in World Affairs (REWA) with the Berkley Center for Religion, Peace & World Affairs. I have always been intrigued by the human decision-making process and, by extension, the way society functions as a system of those choices. (Traditional) economics offers one perspective, explaining that people arrive at their decisions through utility maximization. This rational and calculated approach is augmented by my study of computer science, which is founded upon logical principles and, when paired with statistical methods, can be used to model these decisions and their effects. On the other hand, my minor in REWA offers an opportunity to study and better understand decisions that are conventionally viewed as "irrational," a dysphemism for different from one's own. Diverging religious and ethical values can explain human behavior in areas where classical economics fails, either by offering insight into an individual's indifference curve or by filling gaps in economic theory. I have also completed advanced coursework in government and international development, which have offered insights into how I can apply these insights into human decision-making on a policy level.
I am involved in a number of organizations on campus. You can learn more about my involvements here: |
